Wari Event - Seedball distribution event on 12th June 2023.

Pandharpur Wari or Wari is a yatra to Pandharpur, Maharashtra, to honor Vithoba. It involves carrying the paduka of a saint in a palkhi, most notably of Sant Dhyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagat Guru Sant Tukaram Maharaj, from their respective shrines to Pandharpur. This distribution was done to the Warkari's. Many pilgrims join this procession on foot. Warkari is a Marathi term which means "one who performs the wari". The seedballs were distributed to the Warkari's.

Why seedballs ?

Seed balls or seed bombs are seeds that have been wrapped in soil matter and then dried. The soil matter is often a mixture of clay and compost. The seed is, therefore, pre-planted and can be sown by depositing the seed ball anywhere as long as the species can survive there. The wrapping mixture keeps the seed safe until it can properly germinate.

Why distribution to the warkari's ?

We though of giving the seedballs to the warkari's as they travel long distances to reach their destination that is Pandharpur. They take a journey to Pandharpur by foot for 15 days . In these 15 days they pass through many places where, if they scatter the seedballs it will help in plantation of many trees throughout the route.

Our seedballs consisted of many types of seeds , for eg- Chincha , Awla, Gulmohar, Bel, Shami ,Jambhul etc
